Obituary

Rosemary C. Mastrobattisto, 78, of Westbrook Connecticut, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2023 of natural causes. She has finally gotten her wings.

Rosemary was born on Mother’s Day – May 13, 1945 to Joe and Margaret Cassano in Hartford Connecticut. She and her family spent time between their home in West Hartford, CT and their Cottage in Westbrook CT. She developed a strong connection with the beach and Ocean during this time. A connection that lasted her entire life. After Rosemary graduated from Conard High School, She went on to study Nursing at The University of Connecticut.

After graduating with a degree in nursing, She started her first job at Hartford Hospital as a Registered Nurse. She also taught Nursing in Manchester, CT and later went on to work as a Nurse and Nursing Supervisor for the Visiting Nurses Association. Throughout her career she was a hardworking, caring and devoted nurse who helped countless patients, families and maintained close friendships with coworkers that extended outside the workplace.

Rosemary was a lover of animals as well. She raised and bred many cats and dogs over the years. The last dog that she helped to deliver as a puppy on New Years Eve 2006, went on to be her companion Nemo. Nemo traveled back and forth from Westbrook, Ct to the Bahamas with her and her Partner TB. TB and Nemo were by her side until she ascended to heaven.

In addition to caring for animals she found another calling raising two wild boys. Rosemary Gave Birth to Christian Farrand during the infamous 1973 Ice Storm. Two years Later She had Troy Farrand. Rosemary was a loving, devoted mother who gave her all in raising her two sons who she was always there for.

Rosemary met Tiberiu Craici (TB) in the Bahamas and they formed a deep bond and strong love that they shared together for the next decade. They Lived in Westbrook, CT in the Spring and Summer and Freeport Bahamas each fall and winter ,enjoying all the best that life had to offer.

Rosemary was a free spirit who enjoyed life to the fullest. She enjoyed music, dancing, Broadway shows, local theatre and was always quick to make a new friend wherever she went. Her adventurous spirit led her to travel all over the United States and abroad. Some of her travel highlights include Hawaii, Europe, and Africa. Above all Rosemary loved to live her life like a Mermaid. She loved the beach and swimming any chance she got. She split much of her leisure time between the beach and boating. She was always generous to share her beach home with friends, family and especially her 7 beloved grandchildren.

Rosemary was predeceased by her Mother Margaret (Marramarco) Cassano and Father Joseph Cassano as well as her husband James Mastrobattisto.  She is survived by her Sons Christian Farrand and his wife Stephanie Farrand  and Troy Farrand along   with his Partner Myra Gratton – both of CT as well as the Captain of her Heart Tiberiu Craici (TB). She is also survived by her seven beloved Grandchildren Julia, Jillian, Dacoda, Cole, Aerabella, Zoey and Nova who she loved so much! Also her Brother’s Anthony Cassano and Partner Sandy Bragg of Freeport Bahamas Joe Cassano and partner Val Taft of West Hartford Connecticut.

Rosemary will be deeply missed but her contributions and lessons will live on. She is finally free and has earned her wings like Clarence in one of her favorite movies-It’s a Wonderful Life. Rosemary truly lived a wonderful life and made the lives of those she loved and touched more wonderful in turn.

A Private Celebration of Life will be held in Rosemary’s Honor.
